Police: Man Charged After Attempted Malicious Wounding

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A man has been charged for attempted malicious wounding and carrying a concealed weapon, police said.

Kareem Jorif, 34, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with five counts of attempted malicious wounding and carrying a concealed weapon, police said.

The incident occurred on the 1700 block of N. George Mason Drive at approximately 5:34 P.M. on April 5. Jorif pulled a meat cleaver from his waistband and struck the room door inside Virginia Hospital Center. He then threw the weapon in the direction of the occupants of the room, police said. 

He was held without bond.
