FAIRFAX CO., Va. (WUSA9) -- Another victim has been added to the groper's list of victims.
Fairfax County tally's the total at 24.
But this time he chose a very public place where he was nearly caught.
Police say it happened in broad daylight at 3 Thursday afternoon inside HomeGoods at the Kingstowne Shopping district near Alexandria.
Shoppers of the discount home furnishings store say they are keenly aware of how the groper walked right in and claimed his 24th victim.
Joni Wauhop, Shopper, "I think he's getting more and more bold. That's crazy. You wouldn't think he'd go into a public place with so many people. I thought he was sticking to neighborhoods. It's about time they catch him though."
A 31-year-old woman was shopping inside HomeGoods Store, when police say the so called 'Springfield Groper' attacked her and ran.
Instead of the usual M-O of striking in neighborhoods, the serial pervert came to a very public place at Kingstowne Center.
What was also different about this case is that the groper nearly slipped through the hands of people trying to help, shoppers and employees nearby.
Wauhop said, "He's getting closer and closer to getting caught. It's about time. He's hurt too many people."
Surveillance cameras inside the store may have caught the images of the groper.
Some shoppers are watching their backs while they shop.
"We were more observant of our surroundings than we would usually are."
