ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A driver rammed a police vehicle during a routine traffic stop on Monday, police say.
The incident began when officer's attempted to pull the car over on N. Barton and 10th Street. The driver then rammed the car into the police cruiser and took off, said Dustin Sternbeck, Public Information Officer for Arlington Police.
The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody after the vehicle was blocked on I-395, police said.
The incident is still under investigation. It is unsure at this point on why the driver decided to ram into the police car and flee from the scene.
Initial charges will be felony hit and run and more charges are pending, police said.
