Marie Maybell Johnson, charged with burglary and grand larceny at Elmer Roehrs house in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- Ninety-four-year-old Elmer Roehrs was found dead in his Alexandria home on Wednesday night, police say.
Alexandria police officials say they received a call at 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday about trouble at a home in the 2700 block of Holly Avenue. When police arrived, relatives told the officers that they found their father unconscious and not breathing in the house. He appeared to have upper body trauma.
Medics arrived to the scene and pronounced Roehrs dead. The cause of his death will be determined pending an autopsy by the medical examiner's office.
Police say that a burglary happened at the same house on November 27, 2012. They arrested a woman at approximately 3:15 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Duke Street. After an interview with detectives, Marie Maybell Johnson was charged with burglary and grand larceny for the incident from November. Police say, however, that she has not been charged in relation to the incident from Wednesday.
Police continue to investigate the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703-746-6711.
