ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Police have identified the man who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Alexandria on Thursday evening.
Police say 64-year-old Richard Anderson of the North Springfield area was struck at approximately 7 p.m. in the area of Backlick Road and Interstate 495.
Amtrak officials say he was struck by Train 19, traveling from New York City to New Orleans. Two hundred and twenty-five people were on board the train, headed south. No one on the train was hurt in the incident.
The incident is under investigation but foul play is not suspected, say police.
