LORTON, Va. (WUSA) -- A Lorton sandwich shop owner may have been the target of an explosion Wednesday morning.

It happened in the 9500 block of Richmond Highway in the Williamsburg Square Shopping Center at about 10:30 a.m.

An employee at the thrift store next door heard the explosion as things were flying off the shelves

Fairfax County Police say they are looking for at least one person seen running from the parking lot.

Now police are trying to figure out who did this and why the sub shop was targeted.

"Fire coming out the windows, obviously the windows are blown out. There is at least one victim who has been burned," Deputy Chief Mike Reilly, Fire Marshall's Office said.

Witnesses say the sub shop owner Lawrence Reese was badly burned and taken to Washington Hospital Center's burn unit.

Police are looking into other crimes that have happened at the business.

It was broken into last year and there were reports of graffiti spray painted inside. Three years ago, an accidental fire burned down the sub shop and a neighboring business in 2010.

There are unconfirmed reports, this time, it was a Molotov cocktail that went off inside the sandwich business, and that it may have backfired on the suspect.

Bomb sniffing and tracking dogs were dispatched. Police are searching for at least one suspect and possibly a second.

Police scoured the area of Lorton trying to find out who may be responsible.

Police have not made any arrests yet.
