STERLING, Va. (WUSA) --- Sunday night, a man discovered someone in his van with a knife who demanded money but after an interesting turn of events, no money was ever taken, say Loudoun County authorities.
Sunday at approximately 9 p.m., a man leaving a store in the Cedar Lake Plaza went to get his van. When he got there, he found someone inside brandishing a knife. The person demanded money and then told the man to drive to an area near Augusta Drive.
Police say at some point the man got out of the van and reached for his cell phone. The would-be robber then fled without taking any money.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
