Culpeper, Va., Police Ask Public's Help To Solve 2011 Assault of 86-year-old During Home Invasion

CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA) - The public is being asked to help identify two men who allegedly viciously assaulted an 86-year-old Culpeper resident during a home invasion Oct. 21, 2011.

On that night at about 9 o'clock, the elderly man answered the door at his home in the 400 block of Macoy Avenue, when the men at the door allegedly assaulted him, forcing their way into the home, according to police. The men then allegedly rummaged through the home.

The victim was taken to Culpeper Regional Hospital, then was transferred to the University of Virginia Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. He has continued to undergo rehabilitation and has been admitted to the hospital several times.

One of the home invaders is described as a white male, in his 20s, about 5 feet 9-10 inches tall. The second man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
