LANSDOWNE, Va. (WUSA) -- A woman wanted in California for more than a decade was found in Loudoun County, Va. last week and is awaiting extradition.
Loudoun County authorities say 67-year-old Carolyn Macy was sent to state prison in Santa Clara County, CA on May 25, 1999 to serve a three-year sentence on fraud and identity theft charges. In February 2000, authorities say Macy escaped custody after she was transferred to another facility.
Then, last week, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and Fairfax County Sheriff's Office detectives who are part of the U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force told the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office that Macy was living at Leisure World in Lansdowne, VA.
On Oct. 26, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office deputies took Macy into custody at her home without incident.
Macy is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a felony extradition warrant.
