FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - The George Washington Foundation is seeking a zoning change that would allow it to reconstruct Washington's boyhood home at Ferry Farm in Virginia.
The Stafford County Planning Commission is scheduled to consider the rezoning application on Wednesday.
The Free Lance-Star (http://bit.ly/R6nFsa ) says the county submitted the application on behalf of the foundation. The rezoning would designate the historic 107-acre property east of Fredericksburg as a Heritage Interpretation Zoning District. About half of the property currently is zoned for urban-commercial use and the other half is for agricultural use.
The foundation also wants to build a new visitor center, a greenhouse, a maintenance building and an administration building.
