Herndon, Va., Police seek woman who demanded money and told bank teller two bombs were in or at the building

HERNDON, Va. (WUSA) - Police are looking for a female suspect who demanded money from  a teller at a Herndon bank and indicated two bombs were in or just outside the building, according to Herdnon Police.

At approximately 11:00, the woman confronted a teller at the Cambio de Cheque at 1100 Elden Street, Suite F, in Herndon, and demanded money. She also produced a note that said that a bomb was located in the lobby of the business and another bomb was  in the parking lot. The female then left the scene.

Police responded and summoned the Fairfax County Police Bomb Squad. Surrounding businesses were evacuated and roads were temporarily closed while a bomb search was conducted.

Although a tote bag was located in the lobby of the building, it did not contain a bomb.

The suspect is described as female, with a dark complexion, is 30-40 years of age. She was wearing a purple headband and a red jacket.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Herndon Police Department at 703-435-6846.
