Anthony Michael Of Winchester Taken For Observation After Frederick County VA Standoff

FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. (WUSA) -- Frederick County Sheriff's Office authorities say a man has been transported for observation after a police standoff in Frederick County on Wednesday morning.

Authorities say on Wednesday morning,  Anthony Michael threatened to harm himself and others after deputies responded to a home for a domestic situation. Deputies arrived at the home in the 100 block of Wilkins Drive at approximately 2 a.m. and entered into negotiations with him.

Wilkins Drive was blocked from Woodstock Lane to Senseny Road and the area around the residence has been evacuated and the residents have been taken to Greenwood Fire hall.

Personnel from the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, Frederick County Fire & Rescue, Winchester Fire & Rescue, Winchester City Police, Frederick County and Winchester City Emergency Services assisted with the situation.

Michael has been taken to Winchester Medical Center for observation, say authorities, and an warrant for assault on a law enforcement officer is currently on file.
