WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Due to a long-standing barricade situation on Capitol Hill, drivers may encounter a stumbling block as they make their way into work this morning. Metropolitan Police have been on the scene of the barricade in the 1300 block of E. Capitol Street SE since late Tuesday night, when a man slammed his door on officers attempting to serve him a bench warrant. According to police, a female occupant was able to make her way out of the residence soon after the barricade began. At this time it is unclear whether or not she was allowed to leave or if she escaped. Police are unsure whether or not the man is alone at this time. Right now the police response to the barricade situation blocks East Capitol Street SE between 13th and 14th Streets, as well as North Carolina Avenue NE between 13th and 14th Streets. Drivers can use Massachusetts Avenue or Tennessee Avenue as an alternate routes.
