WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC police asked people to avoid the 4900 block of Rockwood Parkway NW on Wednesday morning after a bear was seen running in the area. WUSA 9 reporter Russ Ptacek is at the scene. He spoke to a driver who told us that police said over a loud speaker to go inside with any pets and lock your door. Later, National Zoo officials said the bear was captured but it was not being taken to zoo. Animal services officials say the bear is located at 49th Street and Glenbrook Lane NW in the custody of Animal Care and Control. Officials also say the Department of Health is there. Bear sightings have been reported all over our viewing area recently. The Glen Echo Heights Citizens Association said in an email on Tuesday night that a woman spotted a bear on her back deck.
