Nine dogs left homeless by Hurricane Isaac are getting a new start far from the Gulf Coast, at the Washington Animal Rescue League. The dogs, including both adults and puppies, arrived on Thursday, transported from Mississippi by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Three of the dogs that arrived in Washington are heartworm positive and will require extensive treatment at WARL's medical center. All the dogs will be evaluated before being made available for prospective adopters. From the roly-poly puppies to the tail-wagging adults, all appeared lively despite their recent ordeal, and are eager to find their forever homes.
