The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is celebrating the new school year by holding a "Bark To School" open house adoption event on Thurs. Sept.6. Adopters can meet shelter staff and animals, and two dedicated local 7th graders, Julia Burke and Virginia Kane, will be recognized for their fundraising efforts. The girls baked and sold tasty "pupcakes" throughout the summer to benefit the homeless pets. AWLA will also waive adoption fees on adult animals for those who donate shelter supplies between Sept.5-Sept. 11. Adoptable dogs, cats and small animals, are awaiting forever homes, and if you'd like to add one to your family, see the attached photos and visit www.AlexandriaAnimals.org for more information.
