CLINTON, Md. (WUSA9) -- The family of a Marine who was killed in a hit and run is asking for your help.
Brandi Bridgett held a vigil Saturday night for her husband Eric, a 27-year old former Marine who was killed by a hit and run driver while walking home from work.
"Because of each and every one of you, I've been able to make it through," Brandi said.
Bridgett's wife, children and friends gathered near the 4900 block of Kirby Road, the spot where the former Marine was killed.
"If you know anybody that texts and drives, drinks and drives, is tired and drives that cannot give 100% attention to the wheel, tell them that I understand that they may have done it before and made it home, but there is so many people that don't make it home," Brandi said.
Police say officers responded to a man lying on the side of a roadway on the 4900 block of Kirby Road on Saturday, August 31 at about 2:30 a.m.
When they arrived 27-year-old Eric Derron Bridgett was pronounced dead.
