Caregiver Faces 15 Years In Prison If Convicted Of Abuse

BALTIMORE (WUSA9) - Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler says a caregiver is charged with abusing a vulnerable adult.

According to Gansler, 53-year-old Ronald Gordon Barnes of Lochearn was indicted by the Baltimore County Grand Jury with one misdemeanor count of abuse of a vulnerable adult and one misdemeanor count of assault.

The charges stem from an incident on December 6, 2012. Gansler says the assault charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of $2,500. The abuse charge carries a penalty of up to 5 years' incarceration and/or a $5,000 fine, says Gansler.

An arraignment date for Barnes is pending.
