LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two workers at an auto body repair shop in Laurel were injured in a fire and vapor explosion on Friday morning, according to Prince George's County fire officials.
Fire officials say the fire is now out at the shop in the 5300 block of Minnick Road. The workers were reportedly in a paint stall when fumes ignited, causing an explosion.
The workers suffered burn injuries, according to fire officials. Officials say one worker was transported in critical condition with second and third degree burns over 50 percent of his or her body. his injuries may be life threatening. A second worker suffered less serious burn injuries and was transported to a Washington DC Burn Center, say officials.
We are told there is some cosmetic damage. Officials say the estimated loss is $20,000.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the combustion.
