Bernard King, Jr. has been charged for attempted first degree rape, robbery and related charges

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police have charged a man for two sexual assault cases.

Bernard King, Jr., 20, from the 7500 block of Kipling Parkway in District Heights was a suspect in a sexual assault in Forestville and another one from July of last year. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted first degree rape, robbery, first degree assault and related charges, officials said. 

The first incident occurred on May 31 at approximately 1:30 a.m., when a victim was approached by King in the 2100 block of Brooks Drive. She was able to fight him off and run away when King grabbed onto her and tried to pull down her clothing. A similar incident occurred in the laundry room of the same apartment complex on July 23. The victim in this incident was also able to escape.
