La Petite Academy van hits teenage girl in Savage, Md., police say

SAVAGE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A teenage girl was hit by a van on Tuesday afternoon in Savage, Md., police said.

It happened at the intersection of Vollmerhausen Road and Castleford Drive, Howard County Police said. 

Multiple witnesses reported that the 13-year-old girl was hit after stepping into the roadway in front of a 14-passenger van owned by La Petite Academy, police said.

There were five children in the van. No one in the van was injured, police said.

The 13-year-old girl is currently listed in critical condition at John Hopkins Children's Center.
