SEVERN, Md. (WUSA) -- A single family home burned almost to the ground early Sunday morning in Severn, Maryland.

Anne Arundel County fire officials say a neighbor called the fire department around 6 a.m. to report that smoke was coming out of the top of a neighbor's house on the 1800 block of Estate Court.

A Fire Department spokesperson tells WUSA9 that when firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the 2-story Colonial which, fortunately, was unoccupied.

It took firefighters more than two hours to put out the fire and. officials say, fire inspectors have condemned the house.

No firefighters were injured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
