MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (WUSA9/AP) -- Montgomery County Police are investigating whether the report of shots fired near a school in Montgomery Village is connected at all to a man found with a gunshot wound at an emergency facility on Monday afternoon.

Shortly after police had arrived at that location, the "police Emergency Communications Center received information that an area emergency facility was treating a male for a recent gunshot wound," according to a police press release.

Police are investigating whether the man was shot in the Montgomery Village area.

Police say he is being treated for a serious injury that does not appear to be life-threatening.
