GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Fernando Valenzuela pleaded guilty on Tuesday to guilty today to second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Montgomery County Police arrested Valenzuela in December after striking two brothers with his car, killing one of them.
Thirty-four-year-old Billie Jay Genies and his brother James R. Genies were struck in the 200 block of W. Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg. Billie Jay was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
After an investigation, police said the brothers and the driver had a dispute as they were leaving the car. Police said they believe the driver then drove around the area looking for the Genies and then intentionally struck them.
Police later found the Civic unoccupied a short distance away.
Valenzuela is scheduled to be sentenced on August 1st and faces 20 years in prison.
