HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) - Police in Howard County are investigating a two vehicle crash that resulted in one person being sent to shock trauma.

According to police, the crash took place at about 2:39 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 and involved a car and a motorcycle. Preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a 2002 Toyota Camry was trying to leave a business complex onto Frederick Road when it drove into the path of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, police said.

The Harley Davidson collided with the left front corner of the Toyota Camry. Police say preliminary investigation reveals the Toyota's failure to yield right of way was the main cause of the crash.

The driver of the Camry was identified as Charles Earnest Runkles, 73, from the 300 block of Whitfield Road Catonsville, Md. and the passenger in the Camry was identified as Linda Thompson Runkles, 73, from the same address.

The Harley Davidson driver, identified as Mark Allan Kohlhepp, 46, of the 3800 blk. of Akers Drive Mount Airy, Md., was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma, via MD State Police Medevac. He is reportedly listed in critical condition.
