CHEVY CHASE, Md. (WUSA) -- Authorities tell WUSA 9 that The Cartier jewelry store in Chevy Chase was robbed on Tuesday morning.

The store is located at 5471 Wisconsin Avenue. It was robbed shortly after 11 a.m. by multiple people wearing masks, according to police. No guns were dispayed, according to police, but the suspects smashed the display case, took some property and fled in a vehicle, say police.

Police say officers pursued the vehicle but broke off the chase in D.C.

D.C. police say one of their cruisers crashed with a vehicle they believe carried the suspects in the Cartier robbery at MLK Jr. Avenue SE and Halley Place SE at approximately 11:38 a.m. According to police, the officer was transported to a local hospital. A spokesperson did not know the officer's condition nor whether any suspects were arrested.

WUSA 9's Bruce Johnson says another car was also smashed as a result of the police chase.

D.C. police say they have a lookout for a black Dodge Charger with four people inside. The car has a Virginia tag in the front-JWR 459-and an Illinois tag on the back-P56 3888.

FBI Washington Field Office says they are investigating the Cartier jewelry story robbery from last week.

FBI and Montgomery County police are both investigating this jewelry story robbery.
