ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Annapolis Fire spokesperson Dale Thompson tells WUSA 9 they got the call about 10:37 a.m. for a fire at the Watergate Village Apartments in the 700 block of Americana Drive.

First arriving firefighters found heavy smoke and fire from the upper floors of the building and the fire quickly escalated to three alarms.

Thompson said the entire building has been evacuated and so far there are no injuries.

The fire is not out yet but it has been brought under control, says Thompson.

Fire investigators will begin their work as soon as the fire is extinguished.
