FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Eighteen Frederick County schools will have wireless Internet access installed for the next school year.

It's part of a program that is eventually intended to allow students to bring their own mobile devices.

Three schools are currently taking part in the Bring Your Own Device pilot program. Administrators will assess the program throughout this year.

The program would allow system to move forward with technology at a lower cost than replacing its computers - most of which are 5 or older.

Wireless setup at current and future schools could cost about $1.5 million to $2 million, school officials tell The News-Post of Frederick (http://bit.ly/11YKNz2).
