LANHAM, Md. (WUSA9) -- A driver involved in a double fatal crash in Lanham, Md. on March 25 has been charged, Prince George's County Police Department said.
The suspect identified as 35-year-old Ramon Anaya-Ascencio has been charged on eight counts including two counts of homicide by a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol as well as two counts of vehicular manslaughter, police said.
The incident took place on March 25, on approximately 7:45 am, at the 10800 block of Lanham Severn Road. When police arrived at the scene, they learnt that a Honda Accord driven by Anaya-Ascencio crossed in front of a Audi A6. The Audi struck the Honda on its passenger side, according to a press release.
The two passengers in the Honda, 46-year-old Leo Castro and 30-year-old Jose Rodrigeuez, were taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation reports that alcohol appears to be a factor in this crash. Anaya-Ascencio is in the custody of the Department of Corrections and is being held on a $200,000 bond, police said.
