LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission has discovered a leak in a portion of a 54-inch transmission main in a wooded area near the 3200 block of Coquelin Terrace in Chevy Chase, Md., after a resident reported seeing water on the ground on Monday.
After an inspector confirmed the leak, WSSC crews isolated a portion of the pipeline and shut it down Monday night. Water is now being drained from the pipe and an emergency contractor will begin repairs as soon as possible. Officials say no customers are without water, and there is no need for any water use restrictions.
This pipe is connected to the 60-inch main that failed last Monday night near Connecticut Ave. and Chevy Chase Lake Drive.
