ASPEN HILL, Md. (WUSA9) - Montgomery County Police say a 3-year-old girl was seriously injured in a fall from a fourth-floor apartment in Aspen Hill.
Police say the girl fell about 9 a.m. Monday from an apartment on Bel Pre Road in Aspen Hill. Capt. Paul Starks says the girl or her young brother opened the window and were looking outside at the snow before the girl fell approximately 40 feet.
The girl was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring and then to Children's Hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition, say police.
Her uncle says miraculously the girl's worst injury was a broken jaw. He says he was asleep in the next room when his dog woke him barking and he knew something was wrong.
Two family members were home at the time of the incident, say authorities.
Detectives are investigating the incident.
