HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A father and two sons were arrested and charged for attempted murder in Howard County, police said.

Howard County police received a call on Tuesday around 7:45 P.M. in the 8400 block of Commercial Street in Savage, Md. from a woman who was living in the home with her boyfriend, police said.

Her estranged husband, Robert Terrance Mobley Jr., 44; their son Robert Terrance Mobley III, 18; and an adopted son Kevin Russell, 18 entered the home and gun shots were fired, police said.

The men escaped from the scene and were arrested as their truck was spotted in West Virginia, police said.

All three men were charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder; first- and second-degree assault; use of a firearm in commission of a felony; first- third- and fourth-degree burglary; handgun on a person; malicious destruction of property and reckless endangerment, police said.

"Investigation revealed one of the men kicked in a side door to the house and entered the home, searching for the boyfriend with a baseball bat. The boyfriend was in a second-story rear bedroom when one of the men entered. In an effort to escape, he climbed out of the bedroom window and onto a first-story roof top. Directly below him two of the men were standing on a lower porch deck. The adopted son began to swing the bat at the open window from inside a bedroom, smashing the glass out. The father, from the lower porch deck, fired four to five rounds from a handgun at the victim on the rooftop, while the other son attempted to strike the victim with a club," police said in a news release.
