GLEN BURNIE, MD. (WUSA) - An employee at a Maryland coin shop shot an intruder who broke into the business, then fled, collapsed and died, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
On Christmas Day at approximately 6:28 a.m., police responded to a report of a break in at the Arundel County Coin Shp at 7418 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.
Police were told by a store employee that an unknown intruder had broken into the store when the employee was there. An altercation followed and the intruder was shot.
The intruder ran out of the shop, collapsed and was treated by paramedics who pronounced him dead at the scene. He was identified as Byron Keith Phillip of Chester, Md. Notification of next of kin has been made.
The name of the store employee has not been released by police pending further investigation.
