Lucy Peters Smith of Middletown, Md., trapped when car rolled over her, pronounced dead at scene

MIDDLETOWN, Md. (WUSA) -  A woman who was trapped underneath her car in her driveway was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to a report of a woman stuck under a car at 2:19 p.m. in the 8300 block of Hollow Road.

The woman, identified as Lucy Peters Smith, 78, had been outside her car when it rolled backwards, trapping her, according to police. A family member discovered her and called 911. Mrs. Smith was pronounced deceased on the scene, police said.

Although an investigation is ongoing, police say the incident is not suspicious in nature and is not weather related.
