SALISBURY, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland State Police say they have arrested a Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy on child abuse charges.
Police say Kendall Elmer West, of the 6000 block of Oxbridge Dr. in Salisbury, became acquainted with the 15-year-old victim 13 years prior.
"Further information revealed the relationship consisted of several sexually oriented incidents in various locations throughout Maryland," police said in a press release.
West was indicted by a Wicomico County Grand Jury on Monday. The 44-year-old was charged with fourth degree sex offense and second degree assault, among other charges and is being held on a $100,000 bond, police said.
Last week, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office contacted the Maryland State Police to investigate the alleged incident since West was an employee of the Sheriff's Office.
The name of the victim is not being released.
