WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- You probably have seen all the holiday items going up in stores well before Thanksgiving, maybe in the middle of October. Retailers are definitely pushing holiday shopping earlier this year, rolling Black Friday deals into Black Thursday. Plenty of shoppers are taking advantage of getting started on their holiday lists a day early, too. The National Retail Federation finds more and more shoppers are heading online and to stores on Thanksgiving. RetailMeNot.com says about 40 percent of consumers begin their holiday shopping before November.
Since the early bird gets the deeply discounted worms, here's a look at some really early deals to consider. Members of the "Shop Your Way" loyalty program at Sears can buy Black Friday deals online starting Sunday. Kohl's customers can shop the more 500 early-bird specials on Kohls.com beginning Wednesday of next week. Online retailers are expected to ditch "Cyber Monday" this year. They will roll out their deals on Thanksgiving Day and several started offering blockbuster buys last month. For example, Offers.com is running deals like 2 carat emerald and diamond earrings for $99.99. Of course, there's RetailMeNot.com. too, an online warehouse of coupon codes that can be applied on top of existing deals. For example, take 20 percent off at Kohls.com plus free shipping on orders over $50.
