COLUMBIA, Md. (WUSA) -- A Columbia family didn't get to stand in long lines with others on Election Day. Instead, they delivered a baby girl at their home.

According to Howard County fire spokesperson Jackie Cutler, Brittany and Joseph Duperre called 911 for help at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday. Baby Adrienne was "entering the world from the comfort of her home," says Cutler. A few minutes after the call, firefighters and paramedics arrived to cut the umbilical cord and transport the family to the hospital.

Cutler says that Adrienne is a healthy, 7 pound, 1 ounce baby. At last check, she and mom were doing well.

Adrienne is the second child for Brittany and Joseph Duperre. They have an 18-month-old son.

The family hopes to thank the crew, Lieutenant Danny Dushanko, firefighter/paramedics Chris Harvey and Chris Brown, firefighters Bart Albrecht, Brandon Thibeault and Chris Harvey, Thursday at their fire station.
