BALTIMORE (AP) - Court records show former Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon has been charged with violating her probation on theft and perjury charges.
Dixon, a Democrat, resigned in 2010 after she pleaded guilty to lying about gifts from her former boyfriend, a developer who received tax breaks from the city. She was also convicted of stealing about $500 in gift cards donated to the city for needy families.
Dixon received probation before judgment, meaning the convictions could be wiped from her record. She was required to contribute $45,000 to charity and perform 500 hours of community service, among other conditions.
Online records show the probation violation was filed Monday. Dixon tells The Baltimore Sun that she had fallen behind on payments she was required to make as part of her plea deal.
