SEVERN, Md. (WUSA) -- Police say a mother has been charged with neglect and desertion after her baby was found under a church porch by a citizen in Severn.
According to Anne Arundel County police, officers were working a missing infant report in Glen Burnie on Monday afternoon around the same time other officers were responding to a report of an infant recovered outside of the Grace Point Presbyterian Church in the 600 block of Donald Avenue in Severn.
They say their investigation revealed that the mother of the two-month-old male infant was last seen with the child around 8 a.m. According to police, Pettricia Finch-Miller apparently abandoned the baby in his car seat under a porch on a side entrance to the church. She then reportedly picked up her two other children at an address in Severn. A citizen found the baby during that time and immediately called police.
The baby received minor injures from exposure to the elements and was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center by ambulance.
Police used several methods to search for Finch-Miller, they say. After working with family members, officers learned that she was at a Comfort Inn in Fredericksburg, Va. Finch-Miller and her two other children were determined to be in good condition. C
Finch Miller, who is 32 years old and a resident of Millersville, Md., is being charged with Neglect of a Minor and Desertion of a Minor.
