Police Files: Neil Prescott of Gambrills, Md., had legally obtained weapons permits and bought firearms between May 2011 and July2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -  The Maryland State Police Licensing Division released files Thursday listing Neil Prescott's gun purchases.

Prescott is the Maryland man who made threats on the phone about shooting people at Pitney Bowes.


The files also showed that Prescott applied for weapons permits and, after the required background investigations showed nothing that would prohibit him from purchasing them, was permitted to buy firearms or firearm component parts regulated under Maryland law.

The firearm purchases were:

May 14, 2011 - Beretta .40 caliber pistol

June 30, 2011 - lower receiver (under MD law a receiver is considered a regulated firearm)

August 13, 2011 - Ruger .357 revolver

December 10, 2011 - Springfield .9mm pistol

April 10, 2011 - five lower receivers
-two Kahr Arms 9mm pistols.

April 19, 2012 - Saiga .762 caliber rifle
-Ruger .45 caliber pistol

June 16, 2012 - Beretta 9mm pistol
-Sig Sauer 9mm pistol

Two additional purchases on June 20, 2012, and July 14, 2012  are not yet been entered in Licensing Division computer files.

According to police, Prescott had obtained a collector status from the Maryland State Police Licensing Division. Under Maryland law, this status permits the purchase of more than one regulated firearm per month.
