Police Looking For Suspect Who Shot Cab Driver In The Leg

LANDOVER HILLS, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police are looking for a man who shot a taxi driver in the leg Tuesday afternoon, and they have released a sketch of him.

According to police, the taxi driver picked up a man at the New Carrollton Metro station and drove him to Cooper Lane Elementary School/Academy around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The man then asked the driver to drive to the rear of the school but the driver refused. The man then pointed a gun at the driver and demanded money.

Police say there was a struggle and the man shot the driver in the leg. He then fled from the cab without taking any money.

The driver was treated and released from the hospital.

Police are still looking for the suspect who is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 5'10" tall and 170 pounds. The man, who is believed to be about 20 years old, was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a yellow design on the front and khaki cargo shorts.
