WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- After last week's historic snowfall, many local residents have piles of garbage and no trash collectors in sight. Here's a list of when some local jurisdictions will be collecting.

Prince George's County: Collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day except for areas with once-a-week refuse pick-up. For areas with once-a-week refuse pick-up, collection will shift to the next day for the entire holiday collection. For example, if Monday is a holiday, Monday collection will be conducted on Tuesday, Tuesday collection will be conducted on Wednesday, etc.

Montgomery County: Monday, February 15 through Friday, February 19, 2010, all Montgomery County-provided trash and recycling pickups will be made on their regular schedule. Yard trim pickups are canceled this week. No changes due to the Presidents Day holiday.

The District: Trash will not be collected Presidents' Day, Monday, February 15. Collections in once-a-week collection neighborhoods will "slide" to the next day. For example, Monday trash collections will be made Tuesday, Tuesday collections will be made Wednesday, and so on. In neighborhoods with twice-weekly trash collections, Monday and Thursday collections will be made Tuesday and Friday, and Tuesday and Friday collections will be made Wednesday and Saturday. The alleys remain impassable because about three feet of snow fell between Friday, February 5, and Wednesday, February 10, so DPW asks residents to put their trash in dark plastic bags and place them at the curb no earlier than 6:30 pm the night before collection and removed from public space by 8 pm on the day(s) of collection. Bleach may be added to the bags to repel rodents.

Arlington: Normal collection will resume on Monday, February 15th. Residents should place trash and recycling containers at the end of cleared driveways by 7:00 a.m. on their trash collection day to ensure they are accessible to crews. Normal collection will resume next week.

All special collections (brush, metal, and electronics) will operate normally, but may be delayed due to snow accumulations. Residents with a scheduled pick up are asked to clear as much snow as possible from around the item and make sure the item is visible and can be easily identified by collection crews. Items must also be easily accessible from the roadway, to prevent crews from having to dig through snow mounds to retrieve items.

Loudoun County: Landfill will be open normal hours Monday thru Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 703-771-5500.

Fairfax County: February 15, 2010 will be a regular solid waste collection day for those that have their trash collected on Mondays. Trash and recycling should be at the curb by 6 a.m.

I-66 Transfer station and I-95 landfill complex will be open for regular operating hours Trash/Recycling emergency at 703-474-7597.

Prince William County: Call the landfill at 703-792-5750. Open Monday thru Saturday 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. thru 4:30 p.m. for residents of Prince William County.

City of Alexandria: There will be normal Monday collection on Presidents' Day, Feb. 15. All residents are asked to place trash in dark colored bags or cans. Residents with alley collection should place trash and recycling at the nearest curb on a public street this week.
