WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A portion of Riggs Road is shut down in both directions after an early morning traffic accident that brought down a power pole.
Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW a vehicle struck a power pole on Riggs Road in Northeast, bringing it down into the roadway sometime after 2:00 Wednesday morning.
Pepco is responding to repair the downed power pole.
Right now Riggs Road is shut down between North Capitol Street and Rock Creek Church Road. The closure is expected to last through rush hour.
Officials say no one was seriously injured in the crash. Police are investigating.
