MARYLAND (WUSA)-- Montgomery County police tell 9NEWS ice was a factor in the three accidents on the Outer Loop near the River Road exit.  Right now, drivers are backed up to the 270 split and growing.

Police say tow trucks and a sand truck are responding to the scene and no injuries have been reported.

Ice has also caused Route 119 to be shut down in both directions at Lakelands Drive in Gaithersburg.

Officials advise commuters to drive carefully in the area and slow their speed due to foggy conditions on the roadways.

A dense fog advisory for the DC area has been extended to 9:00 a.m.
