The black widow has done it again. The 99-pound big eater from Alexandria put away 40 three-ounce crab cakes in 12 minutes to take first place in the World Crabcake Eating Championship in Harrington, Delaware, over the weekend.
Sonya Thomas, who is also known as the black widow, is ranked as the top American competitive eater and second in the world, after two years in the competitive eating federation.
She says she expands her stomach by drinking almost a gallon of Coke with meals and runs on a treadmill for an hour five days a week.
Thomas had already earned $50,000 this year on the competitive eating circuit. But took home another $2500 in the crabcake eating contest. In her day job, Thomas is a manager at a Burger King.
