Police investigate robbery at U.S. post office in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating the robbery of a U.S. Post Office in Alexandria, Va.

Police say a single suspect entered the post office in the 1900 block of Mount Vernon Avenue at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 and implied he had a weapon.

The suspect demanded money and fled after received an undisclosed amount of cash, police say. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male, standing 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build. Police say he was wearing a black mask, a green military-style jacket, and red or brown utility pants.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who robbed this post office. Call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455 (select Option 2). All information will be kept confidential.
