WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- D.C. Mayoral candidate Andy Shallal, held a town-hall style meeting at Union Temple Baptist Church in Southeast Saturday evening.

The meeting featured a panel with Shallal, Pastor Willie F. Wilson and actor Danny Glover.

Shallal, the owner of Busboys and Poets restaurants and Eatonville restaurants, focused the meeting on the "growing distance between the well-off and those left out."

Glover and Shallal met on a campaign years ago, and have remained in contact. Glover says he wanted to be here to show support for Shallal's "grass-roots campaign." "We are reaching out to communities that we think are essential and important in his victory, we are here to talk to the people," says Glover.

WUSA9 asked Shallal what he thought about Mayor Vincent Gray's apology regarding the 2010 campaign. "It's up to the citizens to make that decision but an apology might not be enough when you're dealing with elections. These are the the foundations of a democracy and when you apologize does that mean you did something wrong? Should the election be returned? Should it be recalled? A lot of questions are raised," responded Shallal.
