Culpeper shooting leaves 14-year-old boy injured

CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA9) -- Culpeper police say a 14-year-old boy is in stable condition after a shooting Monday night.

The boy is undergoing treatment at the University of Virginia Medical Center for a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the back, officials said.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of West Chandler Street at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say the victim and another 14-year-old boy who lives in the house were in the bedroom of a home when the shooting occurred.

The victim was originally taken to Culpeper Regional Hospital and later transported to Charlottesville.

The investigation is ongoing and there are no charges at this time.
