ANNANDALE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Our coverage of the first winter weather of the season continues across the Potomac into Virginia. Peggy Fox reported from Annandale on Pine Crest Vista and Route 236.

Fox reported that there's ice all over the trees. One tree fell 10 minutes before one of her live shots on Monday morning. A woman named Jewel told her about it. Jewell was going to be walking right there except for she came to see what WUSA 9 crews were doing because she saw them on television.

"I came this way because I was being nosy. As soon as I got to the end of the truck, I heard a crackling and I turned and the tree was falling, which really scared me because I would have been right there if I wasn't being nosy. So thank you for being there," Jewell told Fox.

Had children had to go to school on Monday, they may have been out there walking.

If you are out walking today, then be careful. Stay away from trees with heavy ice.
