WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Featherstone Elementary and Rippon Middle schools in Woodbridge went into secure-the-building status due to search for a robbery suspect in the area, according to Prince William County school officials.
Officials say everyone is safe.
Transportation may be delayed, say officials.
Prince William County police officials told us that police cleared the area about an hour ago. Police say they are investigating a robbery that occurred at a home near one of the schools.
According to police, "The schools were advised of the incident as usual practice and took necessary precautions. We are not sure why the schools are continuing to post about the incident or remaining in "secure the building" status. We have been in communication with them to correct the issue."
Police say information on the incident will be released later Wednesday.
